Justin, Macklemore Lead VMA Noms
Boasting six nominations apiece, resurgent pop titan Justin Timberlake and collegiate hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis dominated the MTV Video Music Awards nominations, which were announced Wednesday morning. Competing for the top video of the year honor are Timberlake’s “Mirrors†(boo!), Macklemore and Lewis’ “Thrift Shop†(yay!) Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines†(boo!), Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven†(yay!), and Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble†(double boo!).
Mars trails the two frontrunners with four nominations, while Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Pink and 30 Seconds to Mars all earned three noms each. Set to be broadcast live from Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center on August 25, the 2013 VMAs will mark the kudocast’s 30th anniversary.
