Alec’s Latest Rant: Homophobic?

We all know that Alec Baldwin is a super-sized bloviator; James Wolcott wrote recently, “When Alec Baldwin is sore, “serenity now” is not the mantra he sings, which is why he’s among the last of the true New Yorkers.” But this specimen of a dying breed is frequently something of a hypocrite. He thinks of himself as politically progressive, but when he rants at some journalist he uses language that is borderline offensive. The actor reportedly sent out a slew of tweets targeted at the Daily Mail, which reported that his wife, Hilaria, had sent tweets while attending James Gandolfini‘s funeral service yesterday in New York. Baldwin said to the reporter: “My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this f—ing trash … If put my foot up your f—ing ass, George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much … I’m gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I’m gonna f–k…you…up.” Whatever happened to calling someone an “asshole” or a “fat fuck”? Why does Baldwin have to get homophobic?
