“Devious Maids”: Controversial Or Not?
This new Lifetime show doesn’t feel especially controversial: it’s a comedy, for Crissakes. But that hasn’t stopped one of its producers, Eva Longoria, from happily feeding the flames of (mild) controversy about presenting so many Latina characters as domestic workers. Meanwhile, I’m not sure all this chat will boost the show’s prospects. The ratings for its premiere on Sunday were modest.
