“Chocolate Factory” Musical Opens Tonight
The world premiere of a new musical version of Roald Dahl‘s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” featuring a score by Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, takes place tonight at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London. Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes, it has a book by David Greig, with music and lyrics by Shaiman and lyrics by Wittman – the Tony Award-winning songwriters of “Hairspray” and “Smash.” It has choreography by Tony and Olivier winner Peter Darling (Matilda, Billy Elliot). 

The cast is led by Tony and Olivier winner Douglas Hodge (pictured) as Willie Wonka.
