DiCaprio’s Oscar? I Don’t Think So
I’ve been saying for a while that Leonardo DiCaprio has been making too many movies with Martin Scorsese, but then the actor made “The Great Gatsby” with Baz and I’m suddenly wishing he’d run back into the arms of Marty. Well, he has, with “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which turns out to be not a scolding screed against Wall Street greed by an existential dark comedy about enjoying money. Replete with musical accompaniment by the — unavoidable! — Kanye West. The movie, to be released on November 15, feels as if it could be a hit: but it’s too lightweight to win awards. Looks like it’s another year, another No Oscar for Leo.
