Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: “The Internship” looks unfunny, “The Purge” looks too intense. I think Joss (“The Avengers,” “Buffy”) Whedon’s contemp version of “Much Ado About Nothing” looks like the ticket. Television: “Game of Thrones” finale is this weekend, but I’ll watch it after the Tony awards. If you’re looking to binge-watch something, I highly recommend
“Orphan Black.” Music: Stephen King, John Mellencamp, and T Bone Burnett have collaborated on a musical, “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” and it has just been released on two CDs, with an all-star lineup. Books: Summer is a great time to re-read lengthy classics. Mine currently is “Middlemarch.” Short classics — “The Great Gatsby” — don’t count. Sports: I didn’t think I cared about the NBA finals until I watched Thursday’s Game One: wow! Finally: Almost no man looks good in a Speedo, and yet so many men mistakenly think they do.
