“Mad Men”: Overwrought Acting

I decided to read James Wolcott‘s sum-up of the latest “Mad Men” episode instead of watching the show itself. So if you hear me spouting any of Jim’s inspired nonsense, you’ll know from whence I cribbed it. ‘Weakest scenes last night: Ginsberg’s flare-up and meltdowns, where he’s first lambasting Harry Hamlin’s Cutler as a “fascist” — overwrought acting and dialogue that seemed to belong in a bad play — and then crumpled on the floor in a crisis of confidence before the presentation to Manischewitz, requiring a pep talk from Benson, who’s like a mixture of Up with People!, Eve Harrington, and an early edition of The Book of Mormon.’
