Is This The Return Of Lesbian Chic?
Sometime around 1993, the lamestream media decided that woman-on-woman action was groovy, and dubbed this trend “lesbian chic.” I’m wondering if the trend has returned via the movies. The big prize winner this past weekend at Cannes, “Blue Is The Warmest Color” (pictured), features graphic teen-girl sex. And now comes news that mogul Harvey Weinstein, never one to refuse a ride on a bandwagon, has acquired the rights to “Carol,” based on a lesbian love story by Patricia “Mr. Ripley” Highsmith. Cate Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska will star, and Todd Haynes will direct.
