“Mad Men” Does Kennedys’ Dr. Feelgood
Last night’s episode, for those of you too young to remember, was an homage to Dr. Max Jacobson, otherwise known as Dr. Feelgood. During the 1960s, everyone from Alan Jay Lerner to John F. Kennedy had been patients of this physician whose specialty was speed. Dr. Jacobson even accompanied JFK on official trips and shot him up during his disastrous summit meeting with Khrushchev. Jackie Kennedy was also a patient. “Those Kennedys,” the good doctor once muttered to a friend. “They would be nothing without me!”
