The xx Are Working On New Music

The xx have already recorded several “rough demos” for their third album, which they hope to release next year. Although they have been touring relentlessly behind 2012’s “Coexist,” the trio has apparently begun writing songs on the road, many of which feature “stronger” vocals by Romy Madley Croft. “That’s one thing I can say,” Oliver Sim, who shares the xx’s vocal duties, told Billboard. “Romy’s voice has grown a lot, just from singing every day. I hear it and it’s beautiful to hear.” Whereas the band’s first two records were written and recorded at home in London, the xx are trying a different approach for their third album, working while they travel. Oh, and Sim revealed that Solange Knowles will be added to at least one of the concerts’ bills.
