New Norris Spectacle Opens In London
Bruce Norris, who made a splash with his Tony-award-winning play, “Clybourne Park,” has just premiered a massive new work in London. It’s called “The Low Road.” With 20 actors racing between 50 roles across a time-traveling plot, and running three hours, the drama isn’t likely to be produced anytime soon in America — the land whose profit motive comes in for criticism here. The Guardian says “The Low Road” is “rich, turbulent, and satirical.” The Telegraph and Variety are less enthusiastic. The latter says “the production cannot disguise the fact that, unlike Norris’ ‘Clybourne Park,’ beneath the freewheeling, scornful surface there’s more attitude than substance.”
