Justin Timberlake To Host The Oscars?
This week’s rumor that won’t go away: Justin Timberlake, riding high from sales of his new CD, may host next year’s Oscars. He’s a solid choice: he can sing and dance, and has shown from dozens of “SNL” skits that he can tell a joke. He also has boatloads of young followers — the demographic that Oscar increased this year with Seth McFarlane and isn’t anxious to shed next time. Justin hasn’t had a stellar movie career (even if you do like him in “The Social Network,” which I didn’t) but who cares? Johnny Carson was a classic host, and he didn’t have a stellar movie career either. Until producers are named for the 2014 Oscars, the Justin rumor will remain a rumor.
