Mendes Will Not Direct Next Bond
Sam Mendes is being very wise not to direct the next Bond movie. He hardly needs the money. It’s unlikely he’ll top “Skyfall” in critical reception and possibly not at the box office. And he can’t be accused of being a franchise hack, unlike certain other talented directors (no names, please) who start earning big fees with “Twilight” or “Hunger Games” or whatever and turn into total whores. Mendes has promising theatre projects coming up: the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” musical and “King Lear.”
