Hepburn/Tracy Movie To Be Remade

Well, this isn’t quite as wretched an idea as remaking “The Women” with Meg Ryan, but I don’t know why they are redoing the 1948 Tracy-Hepburn picture, “State of the Union.” Any fool knows that they should remake the bad movies until they get them right, not the good ones. “State of the Union” features Angela Lansbury, at the age of 23, playing a middle-aged political operator. (“She’s no angel,” blares the trailer.) Gertrude Stein said that America was the oldest country because it had been in the 20th century the longest. Lansbury is the oldest actress alive because she’s been playing old people the longest.
