Berlin Film Festival: All Hail “Gloria”!
Tim Robey writes: ‘In festival competitions, it’s rare that everyone agrees on a single front-runner. But this year, the film to beat at Berlin is definitely Sebastián Lelio’s “Gloria,” a richly funny, mordant and empathetic comedy-drama about an aging divorcee hitting the moribund singles scene in Santiago. It’s a rare blend of subtle, sexually frank and smartly crowd-pleasing, with a drop-dead performance from Paulina GarcÃa (pictured) that’s an almost sure bet to win Best Actress.’
