Sundance Buzzes After “Fruitvale”
The big buzz so far at Sundance is for “Fruitvale,” which meant that Harvey Weinstein couldn’t rest — couldn’t snarf another cheesburger — before acquiring the rights. The narrative film chronicles the true story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who was shot down by BART officers at the Fruitvale subway stop early on New Year’s Day 2009. The film stars Michael B. Jordan (pictured) as Grant, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (mmm-hmm), Melonie Diaz, and Chad Michael Murray (yeah, the guy from “One Tree Hill.”)
