Marianne Faithfull: Masochist Or Masoch-ist?
Did you know that singer Marianne Faithfull is a a descendant of the 19th-century author/thinker Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, who wrote the novel “Venus in Furs” and gave his name to masochism? It’s a fun fact I should have squirreled away in my brain somewhere, but woefully didn’t. There are other revelations (about her and the Rolling Stones) buried in this new interview with Faithfull, who’s currently in a production of Weill’s “Seven Deadly Sins.” The saucy snapshots above were taken in 1964 by Terry O’Neill.
