Television: Sunday-Night Scorecard
The Good Wife: We were free of Kalinda’s private life, and it was good to see Michael J. Fox back in motion, but the central legal case, about mosquitoes and swimming pools, was dull. Grade: B-. Downton Abbey: A very strong season-three opener, with lots of new plotlines. But does Maggie Smith — you know, the person about whom many of one’s friends say “I wouldn’t watch it without her — have to quote Oscar Wilde? It’s gilding the lily. Grade: A-. Revenge: Victoria tries to save Daniel’s eternal soul, Emily exacts her revenge on a corrupt judge, and someone ends up in jail. I’ve pretty much gone off of this show, but the episode last night was decent. Grade: B+.
