Martial-Arts Epic To Open Berlin Festival

Wong Kar-wai‘s movies affect me like those of no other living filmmaker. “In the Mood for Love” put me in a dream state, so beautiful and languorous were its images. “Happy Together” is one of the most original depictions of a same-sex relationship I’ve ever seen. The director’s new movie, the epic “The Grandmaster,” starring Tony Leung (pictured) and Ziyi Zhang, will open the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival on Feb. 7, 2013. The film is set in 1930s China and is inspired by the life of the legendary martial artist the Ip Man, mentor to Bruce Lee, whom Leung portrays in the film.
