Odets’ “Golden Boy” Packs A Big Wallop

Clifford Odets’ 1937 play, “Golden Boy,” opened on Broadway last night, starring a terrific 19-person cast including Seth Numrich and Danny Burstein (pictured). The reviews are dominated by raves. The Wall Street Journal’s Terry Teachout says that the cast is “as consistently fine as any I’ve ever seen on a Broadway stage.” David Cote of Time Out/New York says that “Golden Boy” is “the sort of show that makes you proud to be in a theater.” I’ve been writing a Backstage Blog about this production for Lincoln Center Theater.
