“Rocky” Musical Knocks Out German Critics
“Rocky: Das Musical,” the stage adaptation of the much-loved Sylvester Stallone film, has opened to a rapturous critical reception in Hamburg. Stallone himself was present at Sunday night’s premiere at the TUI Operettenhaus, as were his co-producers, the Ukranian boxing brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. The actor told Sky News: “I really truly believe that this thing here is going to be extraordinarily successful. I don’t know how it can fail because it’s about the people.” For the record, German critics also tend to swoon at the song stylings of David Hasselhoff. The “Rocky” musical, with music and lyrics by Ahrens and Flaherty, may reach Broadway in 2013.
