I’ve been trying to avoid the Petraeus scandal to spare myself what Jim Wolcott calls “psoriasis of the brain” but so many of my Facebook “friends” cite it that I’m forced into awareness no matter how big a moat I build. I’ve allotted brain power to this needless post-election irritation only once: to ponder who should star in the inevitable HBO movie. I like the idea of Steve Carell playing the general. As for the part of lover/couldn’t-write-it-herself biographer, Hollywood is stocked with fake-titted women who could credibly do the honors. All the producer has to do is to look around any Starbucks in Hollywood on a weekday morning and he’ll have his Lana-at-Schwab’s epiphany.
