“Ivanov”: Financial Times Review

The FT has published my review of Chekhov’s “Ivanov,” starring Ethan Hawke and Joely Richardson (pictured), which has just opened off-Broadway. Bottom line: ‘Led by a compelling if sometimes excessively emphatic performance by Hawke in the title role, and a cohesive ensemble under the direction of Austin Pendleton, the evening manages to dispel most of the drama’s celebrated ennui.’
