Kathie Lee’s Show: The Camp Commercial
“Scandalous,” the new musical by Kathie Lee Gifford, is about that nympho evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson. The show is in previews on Broadway, and Kathie Lee, who plugs the show incessantly on her soused hour of “Today,” is there every night, taking pictures for the folks back home. The new TV ad, above, is an unintentional parody of itself, as when one of the supposed real-life patrons says, “I could die now.” Priceless. But not as good as the gold standard for this types of ads, from “Grand Hotel.”
