Helen Mirren To Play The Queen: Again!
I guess she can’t get the corgis out of her mind: Helen Mirren, who won an Oscar for playing Her Indubitably Esteemed Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in “The Queen,” will wear the crown again. In February, Mirren will begin performances in the world preem in London of “The Audience,” a new play by Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon.”) Directed by Stephen Daldry, Morgan’s play is based on the weekly audiences the Queen has held with her Prime Minister throughout her 60-year reign. Details of the wholly private meetings, which have spanned Winston Churchill to present leader David Cameron, are never made public. Morgan’s play is an imaginative representation of these meetings. Will Her Madge attend one of the performances? I doubt it: no one would be watching the stage.
