New York: Old Divas Versus Young Divas
I always thought that a diva, by definition, ruled the stage alone. Who knew that they came in threes? Yesterday, we learned that the younger generation of divas — Gaga, Pink, Rihanna — are all about to make concert appearances in New York. Also yesterday, a much older trio of divas — Barbra, Liza, and Aretha — performed in New York at a tribute to the late Marvin Hamlisch. (According to my spies, Barbra sounded best, Liza worst, and Re-Re whooped and swooped a lot.) Which trio, young or old, would you rather see? I say: bring all six together and you’d have the greatest edition of “VH1 Divas” in history.
