How Will Protests Affect The Cineplex?
A disgusting, amateurish movie (or only movie clips) helped set off the current wave of embassy-storming in the Middle East. But how will more reputable movies fare if this wave continues? I’m thinking specifically of “Zero Dark Thirty,” Kathryn Bigelow’s flick about the hunt for Bin Laden, culminating in the raid of May, 2011. Will audiences be so sick of seeing footage of Islamic terrorists that they will give such projects a big, fat “No Thanks”? Or will the news stoke their appetite?
