Oscar Race Is Also Democrat Vs. Republican
How convenient for an election year: it looks as if the Oscar race for Best Actor could be in part a duel between a Democrat (Bill Murray playing FDR in “Hyde Park on Hudson”) and a Republican (Daniel Day-Lewis playing Abraham Lincoln in “Lincoln”). The latter movie hasn’t been seen yet, but the former is getting excellent reviews at the Telluride festival, especially for Murray’s performance. Also in the Oscar running will be Joaquin Phoenix, whose performance in “The Master” is soaking up acclaim at in Venice.
