Your Weekend: LemonWade Recommends
Movies: “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” looks perfect if you’ve got children. I keep meaning to catch up to Oliver Stone’s “Savages.” Television: There’s an intriguing Friday program called “Golf’s Grand Design,” about the architecture of golf courses. The Sunday-evening pile-up doesn’t look so bad this week, though I’ve still got “Political Animals” and “The Newsroom” to DVR. Books: Am not reaching for Gore Vidal’s books in light of his death; I happened to be reading both his memoirs the week he was dying. Glad to see that David Mitchell’s “Cloud Atlas” has hit the best-seller list in advance of its movie adaptation. Music: I think I’ll be dead before Adele’s “21” drops off the top-ten CD list. “The Most Relaxing Classical Music In The Universe” is just a higher form of Muzak. Sports: The Yankees have kinda sucked since the All-Star break. You don’t win World Series if you can’t win close games. Finally: Have you noticed that I haven’t mentioned the Olympics? Until now.
