It’s no great news that Paris, New York, London, and Tokyo topped the list. A different set of criteria might have yielded more surprises. Measuring a city’s greatness by its number of cinemas and museums or art galleries and theaters seems to me as much about real estate as about cultural activity, which in the digital age takes place everywhere.
