Your Weekend: LemonWade Recommends
Movies: If you’ve gotten shut out of the “Dark Knight” screenings this weekend (and a lot of people have, although who knows how the Colorado shooting will change things), maybe you should try “The Queen of Versailles.” Even if it does look like a Bravo TV show. Television: I’ve been catching up on my favorite stupid-reality program, “Ice Road Truckers,” though I’m not sure I’d urge you to do the same. The Inspector Lewis episodes have been a mixed bag this month, but I keep on watching. Music: “Tempest,” Dylan’s new CD, is already topping Amazon, even though it won’t be released for two months (on 9/11, ominously.) I have to confess that I’d never heard of country star Jason Aldean until today. Have I missed much? Books: Been basking in Gore Vidal’s two volumes of memoirs, which are annoying in just the right ways. Sports: I’m trying to avoid all the pre-Olympics hype, and discover new athletes only as they win something during the Games. Finally: I finally made my first peach cobbler, even though it’s practically August!
