Movies: “Savages“? Really? I’d have to be up for gristle to go there. “The Amazing Spider-Man” still envelops the weekend in his web. Television: There’s finally a new Inspector Lewis on PBS. I’m trying to watch some early “Breaking Bad” episodes before next weekend’s premiere. Music: Did Frank Ocean come out of the closet just to boost his new CD sales? Almost all of iTunes’ top Classical albums now are patriotic gunk for the 4th of July. Books: My favorite new book title is “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” The next installment of Ken Follett’s 20th-century trilogy is “Winter of the World.” Maybe it will be less long-winded than its predecessor, “Fall of Giants.” Sports: The Olympic trials are mostly over, so it’s back to pre-break baseball: Red Sox vs. Yankees. Also: why couldn’t the Knicks have gotten Steve Nash instead of Jason Kidd? Finally: Remember, it’s a tax when the Democrats do it, but a mere penalty when the Republicans do it.
