Omar Has Signed On To Be A Slave
One of my favorite screen characters of the past decade — Omar on “The Wire” — was played by Michael K. Williams (pictured). The actor has now signed on to play Robert, a “mutinous slave,” in Steve (“Shame”) McQueen’s adaptation of “12 Years A Slave,” the 1853 book written by Solomon Northup. Williams joins Brad Pitt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Paul Dano. Could they get a star in there somewhere? Sheesh!
