Zooey To Play Loretta Lynn On Broadway?
The movie version of Loretta Lynn’s life, “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” nabbed an Oscar for Sissy Spacek. So maybe the Broadway-musical version of the material, using the same title, can do the theatrical equivalent for Zooey Deschanel. Miss Lynn brought Zooey up on the stage at a Grand Ole Opry show last night to announce the project, which has no creative team or workshop dates attached. Btw, with the exception of “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” country or country-tinged musicals tend not to do very well on Broadway. Most people don’t come to New York for what they can get more of in Nashville.
