Theater: 10 Reasons You Shouldn’t Text
Pia Catton of the Wall Street Journal has come up with an eloquent list. Reason number 5 is my favorite: ‘If the wrong person catches you texting, you will be kicked out. Exhibit A: Laurence Maslon, musical-theater expert and associate arts professor at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. At a recent show, Mr. Maslon was seated across the aisle from a man who was texting throughout the first act. He confronted the texter during intermission. The reply: “If you’re not behind me, you can’t see me. Mind your own business.” Mr. Maslon then noted the offender’s seat number and alerted the usher, who ejected the rube after he began texting during the second act. True story.’
