“Mommy Porn” Not A Sure Thing As Movie
There’s been a lot of noise about the sale of the movie rights of “Fifty Shades of Grey” to the movies: Universal and Focus Features, to be specific. But there are questions about the viability of putting “mommy porn” on the big screen. This type of soft-core erotica has been around for years, most successfully in racy romance novels. There’s a reason those books haven’t been made into successful feature films: to adapt them risks an NC-17 rating, which no major studio wants. Soft-core works better on premium-cable channels like Showtime. Universal of course thinks it will crack the formula, but to use Romney‘s favorite adverb: I am “severely” doubtful.
