“Iron Lady” Lost In Russian Translation?

According to the biopic “The Iron Lady,” Margaret Thatcher had to do battle “every day of my life.” Were she able, the Baroness would have another enemy to confront: movie pirates. In a new, illegal Russian version of the Meryl Streep flick, Thatcher is depicted as a Hitler-admiring leader who wants to destroy the working class. Not so far wrong, in my opinion. And the depiction, while extreme, only points up to one of my objections to the official version of the movie: it humanizes someone who caused suffering to millions. At the end of the road of this tendency would, in fact, be a slick pic that humanized Hitler.

  1. EVERY….day!

  2. I think Meryl Streep should play Hillary Clinton. Now that they’ve become best buddies.

  3. Oh, wait. Meryl already did play Hillary: in the remake of The Manchurian Candidate.
