In an interview I once did with this invaluable actor, he told me: “Do I think vampires are a secret metaphor for gay men? Yes, I think vampires are a secret metaphor for gay men. But I also think the vampires are a metaphor for many other groups of people who felt they had to hide something from the public. Gay men don’t have that turf all to themselves.”
