Hair Debate: Viola Davis Or Angela Davis?
You’d never know it from the mainstream (i.e. white) American media, but the post-Oscar chatter this week has to do with more than Angelina Jolie‘s stance or Sascha Baron Cohen’s stunt. I’m talking about the discussion that’s been going on about the natural hairdo choice of Viola Davis and the super-fro of singer Esmeralda Spalding. Afros are making a mini-comeback among teenage girls, even though, as this discussion points out eventually, some of those girls cover the fros with wigs when they go to school, to “fit in.”
