With the opening on Monday of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in its 136th year (the show predates the Brooklyn Bridge and is only seven years younger than the Metropolitan Museum of Art, demonstrating the enduring appeal of man’s best friend), it seemed to be a perfect time for writer Randy Kennedy — in the no-bones spirit of Mr. Hockney — to give New York City a good look as a dog-art town.
