“Amazing Race” Announces Line-up
There’s a reason why “The Amazing Race” consistently wins awards as TV’s best reality show. For one thing, it requires not only talent and luck but also grace and stamina. (Can’t say that about most of the songbird sing-offs.) For another, unlike shows like “Big Brother” and “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race” contestants are generally likable. Finally, although “Race” casts its contestants as rotely as other reality shows (“the gay couple,” “the mixed race couple,” etc.), it doesn’t feel especially calculated. The line-up for the show’s new season, premiering Feb. 19, continues the fresh tradition.
