Broadway Says Farewell To Follies: Guess What Stopped The Show

The Broadway revival of Sondheim’s “Follies” gave its last performance yesterday, before moving on to Los Angeles (with Victoria Clark replacing Bernadette Peters). At the New York farewell, all the local Sondheim queens turned out in full force, and even the primmest among them apparently got to yellin’ and screamin’ like a bunch of drunken stevedores. The loudest applause came for the famous mirror number, “Who’s That Woman?”, led by the irrepressible Terri White. Sondheim-besotted New Yorkers won’t have to wait long for their next fix: “Merrily We Roll Along” is at City Center February 8.
