Meryl, Julia: Back In “August: Osage”?
I’d been hearing for a few months that Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts had jumped ship from the movie version of Tracy Letts’s smash 2007 play, “August: Osage County.” Now I’m reading that the ladies are back on board, and that the movie will begin shooting in September. Which means if Meryl doesn’t win the Oscar this year for “The Iron Lady” that her next big shot won’t be until the ceremony in 2014. Personally, I’d rather see Meryl finally win Oscar number 3 for playing a fictional role, not one in which she shows us for the millionth time how brilliantly she can channel a real-life person.
