“Portlandia”? Do I Have To? Really?
“Whenever I hear the word ‘culture’ I reach for my revolver,” says a character in a play by Hanns Johst. As for me, whenever I hear the phrase ‘TV’s smartest new comedy” I reach for the remote. (And press Mute.) So don’t expect me to offer witty words about “Portlandia,” the TV show about America’s most-overrated city, Portland. The show is back for a second season on IFC, still starring Fred Armisen of “SNL” and Carrie Brownstein, of another massively overhyped entity: the band Sleater-Kinney. If you’re watching “Portlandia,” let me know if I’m wrong.
