Weekend: Bad Santa Recommends
Movies: It’s Christmas week, so that means it’s all movies, all the time. I can recommend “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (don’t eat first);
“The Adventures of Tintin“; and “War Horse,” even if the play is better. Television: Nothing but reheated holiday leftovers and all-day “Seinfeld” marathons. Music: Don’t marinate in “Jingle Bells”: rock out to speed metal and acid-house. Drive your family crazy by singing along to your headphones, because EVERYONE sings along at a quarter- to a half-pitch off. Even Celine Dion. Books: I usually work my way through a pile of new releases during Christmas week, but I’ve finished my stack of new and will probably savor the old. Sports: On Christmas Day, the NBA sputters to a belated start. Boston/New York is the noon appetizer with Dallas/Miami the main course. Finally: If you spend Christmas with family or friends, you’re lucky. But if you spend it alone, watching whatever movies or TV you want and playing whatever videogames you want and just generally pigging out when it pleases you not when the cooks in the kitchen decide to serve the grub, you may be the luckiest of all. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and thanks for keeping all of us who read you informed, entertained and in the Zeitgeist.
