Scalper Offers Tickets To Hugh
Tonight on PBS’s “Theater Talk,” Hugh Jackman regales hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel with surreal stories about the boffo success of his current show, “Hugh Jackman: Back On Broadway.” According to Michael Musto‘s account of the interview, there’s such a craving that even the star himself was offered scalpers’ tix!
“The scalpers are all over Times Square,” says Hugh. “It’s a tough one… I mean some guy offered me scalping tickets to my show. As I was walking down the street to the theater,” [what? no limo ferries him from home to the stage door?] “this guy goes, ‘Hey, you want a ticket to Hugh Jackman?’ and I said, ‘I am Hugh Jackman.’ You should have seen the look on the guy’s face.
“I said, ‘You may want to leave here. Hanging out in front of ‘Memphis’ is not the most surreptitious way to sell tickets.’ ”
Musto comments: “Great story–but Hugh should have bought the tickets anyway.”
My comment: On November 8, Hugh Jackman changed my life, so anything he does anytime anywhere is okay with me.
