Weather in all its forms — especially those that can disrupt travel — is on the minds of almost everyone this time of year. So what better time to bring you the best weather pictures of 2011? About the photo at left, The Telegraph comments: ‘A storm cloud threatens to develop into a full blown tornado behind a cluster of family homes. Pat Kavanagh took this shot of an explosive storm from the roof of his house in Taber, Canada, last month. Expecting the sunny weather to take a turn for the worse he watched intently as the billows started spinning into a furious funnel. He says: “Our area of the country seldom sees tornadoes…The rainbow underneath it…made it even more special to see.” This picture was created by stitching together multiple photographs in a vertical panorama.’
