Christopher Hitchens Dies At 62
Christopher Hitchens, a writer of extraordinary range, passion, and contrariness, has died at age 62. I knew him a bit. I edited a couple of pieces of his at The New Yorker in the 1990s, and what I remember vividly is how, once the professional part of our editorial phone calls were over, we would entertain each other with puns. At this point, I should be a fountain of those puns, spilling them all over LemonWade for your delectation. But for the life of me I can’t remember a single one. All I recall is that we laughed a lot.
