Best Song Of 2011: Adele Or M83?

The first wave of “Best Songs of 2011” lists suggested that Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” would go home with both the Song of Summer and Song of the Year titles. But Pitchfork has unveiled the top 50 tracks from its Best of 2011 list, and as you can probably guess from the above headline, the no. 1 spot went to M83’s sax-jam “Midnight City.” This is maybe not so surprising from the indie-inclined site, but at this point in the End of the Year List Game it’s a big win for M83, who also picked up top honors from Stereogum yesterday. Could this late surge from “Midnight City” be enough to topple Adele?
