Extreme Makeover: Superman Edition
Glen Weldon surveys the hero’s evolving look over the past 70 years. “Over the years Superman has been our scrappy big brother, our concerned father, our compassionate uncle and, for an unfortunate stretch of time deep in the bowels of the benighted 90s, our mulleted hillbilly cousin.” The buff dude in the big pic above is Henry Cavill, who is Superman in the upcoming flick “Man of Steel.” No doubt Republicans will see the title as another left-wing Hollywood plot because supreme Soviet dictator Stalin chose the name Stalin because it meant “Man of Steel.”
